NE Oakville Fair Returns Sunday 🎪

Image from ne.oakvillefair.ca
Northeast Oakville’s neighbourhood fair is back this Sunday, May 24, bringing a full afternoon of family-friendly activities to Glenashton Park beside Iroquois Ridge Community Centre. The free event runs from 11am-4pm at 1051 Glenashton Dr, giving local families an easy weekend plan without having to leave the neighbourhood.
Visitors can expect face painting, games, sports demonstrations, arts and crafts, community booths, food trucks, and vendors set up throughout the park.
The fair is built with young families in mind, but there should be enough to keep kids busy and give parents a relaxed way to spend a Sunday afternoon outdoors.
Burger's Priest Reopens on Cornwall 🍽
After months of renovations, Burger's Priest on Cornwall has reopened in the Longos/Harpers Landing plaza.
A Reddit post on r/oakville this week confirmed the reopening, noting opening day drew plenty of customers. The burger spot now includes a small patio.
The Cornwall location is back in business and serving its menu of burgers and fries to local diners.
Bronte Victoria Day Calmer 🎆
This year's Victoria Day crowd in Bronte was noticeably smaller and more manageable than in past years, thanks to coordinated efforts by Halton police and the town. Police estimated 300 to 350 people gathered along Lakeshore between Bronte Road and East Street Monday evening, down from the usual 500 to 700.
There were no reports of property damage or injuries, and no fireworks aimed at crowds or police. Three teens were charged with minor offences.
Ward 1 councillors Jonathan McNeice and Sean O'Meara say it was better but not solved. They're watching Canada Day closely, when a sanctioned town event will be happening nearby at Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park.

Special Olympics Athletes Celebrated 🏆
Special Olympics Oakville wrapped up the year last week with their annual awards banquet, bringing together athletes, supporters, and local dignitaries to celebrate the organization's accomplishments.
The event honoured Linda and Ron Watson of Hopedale Bowl, who've hosted a five-pin bowling league for Special Olympics athletes. Oakville West MP Sima Acan presented the pair with a federal certificate, adding to their 2024 induction into the Ontario bowling hall of fame.
"This is a community event," said James Montague of Special Olympics Oakville. "That's what this event is all about, it's community coming together and athletes coming together."
Athletes from Oakville and Burlington were recognized throughout the evening for their achievements across various sports programs.
