Seniors - Smartphone Essentials
Reported
This workshop helps senior women build confidence using smartphones to stay connected, access information, and manage everyday tasks independently.
Participants will learn essential smartphone functions: making and receiving calls, sending text messages, saving contacts, and using video calling. The workshop also covers creating and managing email accounts, navigating the internet safely, using maps for directions, and adjusting accessibility settings to improve ease of use. Troubleshooting common issues — connectivity problems, frozen apps, and device restarts — is included.
By the end of the session, participants will feel comfortable using their smartphones independently and will have the skills to communicate, access services, and stay connected with family, friends, and their community.
The workshop is facilitated by Prerna Seth, Cybersecurity & Data Management Program Co-Manager at The Women's Centre of Halton. With an engineering background, an MBA, and a Diploma Certification in Cybersecurity Analytics & Cloud Operations from York University, Prerna brings both technical expertise and practical perspective to building digital confidence in the people and communities she serves.
