Fire Safety Storytime

Fire Safety Storytime 🚒 The Oakville Public Library is hosting a fire safety storytime led by a member of the Oakville Fire Department. Children will hear a story read by a firefighter and meet Blaze the dragon. After storytime, attendees head outside for a live demonstration of firefighter gear, a close-up look at the fire truck, and a quick tour of the cab. Events are held at various library branches at various times.

Strawberry Festival

Strawberry Festival 🍓 in Downtown Oakville celebrates the city's heritage as the former Strawberry Capital of Canada. The festival features shopping, dining, entertainment, and strawberry-themed activities along a car-free pedestrian street. Lakeshore Road East, from Thomas Street to Dunn Street, will be closed to vehicle traffic. Salsa Nights in Oakville 💃 Every Saturday in 2026, Taste of Colombia hosts a lively Salsa Night featuring lessons and social dancing. Holton Heights Park Native Garden Tour

Discover Oakville's Holton Heights Park Native Garden 🌿 with Grow Native Halton. Carolyn, the volunteer steward, will lead a guided walk through this flourishing pollinator habitat, sharing insights into native plants currently in bloom and how they support bees, butterflies, and birds. Carolyn is a Certified Pollinator Steward (Pollinator Partnership), Butterflyway Ranger (David Suzuki Foundation), and Bat Ambassador (Bat Conservation International). She will discuss the ongoing work involved in creating and maintaining the garden, offer practical gardening tips, and share the story behind this community project. The tour welcomes both newcomers to native gardening and experienced gardeners seeking inspiration and ideas.

Active Outdoor Hiking Group 🥾 This is a group of adults age 50+ who hike together year-round. Up to five walks and hikes are offered Monday and Thursday mornings, with various lengths and difficulty levels — participants choose which suits them. Hike locations include the Bruce Trail, Halton & Hamilton Conservation Areas, Royal Botanical Gardens, Oakville trails, lakefront trails, and more. A valid Town of Oakville Seniors Services membership is required to participate. Memberships are available to both residents and non-residents. Each hike has a small fee, payable to the hike leader.
