Fire Safety Storytime

Fire Safety Storytime 🚒 The Oakville Public Library is hosting a fire safety storytime led by a member of the Oakville Fire Department. Children will hear a story read by a firefighter and meet Blaze the dragon. After storytime, attendees head outside for a live demonstration of firefighter gear, a close-up look at the fire truck, and a quick tour of the cab. Events are held at various library branches at various times.

Art Show: Safar (A Journey), Solo Art Show by Sharn Bassi

This exhibition brings together four interconnected series exploring identity, spirituality, and cultural memory. "Many Paths" reflects the different ways individuals seek connection: to faith, nature, meditation, or community. "Heer" reimagines the women of South Asian folklore as thinkers, leaders, and creators of their own destiny. "Goddess of Alchemy" explores transformation, suggesting that change often begins in the unseen spaces between shadow and light. The exhibition concludes with "Dreaming of Punjab," a reflection on ancestral memory and imagined landscapes of home. Together, these works trace a quiet journey from searching and reclaiming, through transformation, to remembering one's origins.

Active Outdoor Hiking Group 🥾 This is a group of adults age 50+ who hike together year-round. Up to five walks and hikes are offered Monday and Thursday mornings, with various lengths and difficulty levels — participants choose which suits them. Hike locations include the Bruce Trail, Halton & Hamilton Conservation Areas, Royal Botanical Gardens, Oakville trails, lakefront trails, and more. A valid Town of Oakville Seniors Services membership is required to participate. Memberships are available to both residents and non-residents. Each hike has a small fee, payable to the hike leader. Mindful Women's Walking Group

A guided mindful walk designed to help participants slow down, connect with nature, and enjoy the benefits of spending time outdoors. The 45-minute walk begins at the Oakville office, where Social Service Worker students will welcome attendees before heading out together to Hopedale Park. During the walk, participants will take time to notice the beauty around them — feeling the sunshine, listening to the birds, noticing the trees, and connecting with nature through their senses. After returning to the Centre, attendees are invited to enjoy coffee, tea, and conversation in a warm and welcoming environment. Everyone is welcome, whether looking to relax, connect with others, or simply enjoy some fresh air.
