Aideen Barry: Silent Songs

Aideen Barry: Silent Songs presents the artist's inaugural solo exhibition in Canada across two Oakville Galleries locations. The exhibition features the world premiere of her film Embroidering the Earth's Mantle, alongside recent films, intricately embroidered drawings, and richly printed film stills.

Barry's work centers on recovering voices and histories that have been silenced. Through narratives that weave together folklore, oral histories, ecology, and archival research, she reveals the persistence of cultural memory despite histories of erasure and repression. Her films and visual works foreground languages and other forms of cultural knowledge that have been suppressed, creating cinematic worlds for these voices to resurface.

The exhibition is displayed at Oakville Galleries – Gairloch Gardens (1306 Lakeshore Road East) and Oakville Galleries – Centennial Square (120 Navy Street).
