Gowan

Lawrence Gowan is a keyboardist and vocalist born in Glasgow, Scotland, and raised in Canada. As a solo artist in the 1980s and '90s, he released six studio albums, earning four Platinum and three Gold certifications in Canada, plus one Gold single. His 1985 album Strange Animal, recorded at the legendary Tittenhurst Park studio in England (where John Lennon recorded Imagine), went triple platinum in Canada. The music video for his song "A Criminal Mind" won the Juno Award for Best Video in 1985.

Gowan's solo work has featured collaborations with musicians including Jon Anderson (Yes), Alex Lifeson (Rush), Robert Fripp (King Crimson), Tony Levin (King Crimson and Peter Gabriel), and others. Four of his songs have been certified SOCAN (ASCAP) Classic Awards, each surpassing 100,000 spins on Canadian radio. In 1998, he performed his original composition "Healing Waters" with the BBC Orchestra at the opening of Princess Diana's Memorial at Althorp, England. He received a star on the Scarborough, Toronto Walk of Fame in 2011.

Since joining Styx in 1999 as keyboardist and one of three lead vocalists, Gowan has recorded four studio albums and three live DVDs/Blu-rays with the band, performing more than 1,600 shows worldwide.
