Oakville's Full Ballot For The October 26 Election Is Now Set

Oakville's ballot for the Oct. 26 municipal election is final. The deadline to file or withdraw nomination papers passed at 2 p.m. on Aug. 21, so every name in every race is locked in.

Five people are running for mayor: incumbent Rob Burton, who has held the job since 2006 and is going for a sixth term; Ward 5 councillor Jeff Knoll, who was first elected in 2000 and chairs the Halton Police Services Board; Ward 1 councillor Sean O'Meara, on council since 2014; Julia Hanna, who has owned and run Oakville restaurants for more than 30 years and ran for mayor in 2022; and Arvind Choudhary, whose background is in finance, public policy and tech.

The races under the mayor's race

All seven wards have council contests, covering both the town councillor and the town and regional councillor seats. Ward 4 drew the longest list of candidates, while Ward 6 is the quietest, with only two names on it and both of them incumbents. Voters also pick trustees for the Halton District School Board and the Halton Catholic District School Board.

Advance voting comes first: Oct. 7 to 10, then Oct. 13 to 18. Election day is Monday, Oct. 26.
