Oakville Hosts Its First Asian Night Market at Sheridan

Oakville held its first Asian Night Market over the weekend of July 10 to 12, filling the grounds of Sheridan College's Trafalgar campus from early afternoon until 11 p.m. each night. Late hours like that are unusual for an Oakville event, and the crowds stayed for all three days.

The outdoor market brought together Asian street food vendors, local artisans and craftspeople, and live entertainment, with the stated goal of bringing residents of different cultures together. For Oakville and Halton, it was a first.

The market is one stop on the Ontario Asian Night Market Series, which is touring the GTA this summer with dates in Mississauga, Niagara Falls, Barrie and Scarborough.

Judging by the turnout, a late-night summer festival has room to grow in town.
