Oakville Named One of Canada's Best Locations to Invest for an Eighth Year

Oakville is on Site Selection Magazine's list of Canada's Best Locations again, the eighth year in a row the town has made it. The magazine tracks corporate expansions and new facilities, and its write-up called Oakville a booming community.

Over the twelve months the ranking covers, more than C$3 billion was invested in Oakville and 1,926 jobs were created. Ford's multi-billion-dollar retooling of its Oakville Assembly Complex is the biggest piece of that. Siemens Canada, Laurentis Energy Partners, Concast Pipe, AFX Mixing and Pumping Technologies and Pinty's Delicious Foods all show up on the town's recent project list as well.

Eight more companies arrived in Oakville over the same stretch, investing around C$9 million between them, though their names have been kept confidential.

Ontario is heavily represented. Eleven of the locations recognized are in this province, including Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, Vaughan and Sudbury.

Site Selection also pointed at work the town has done itself: a business retention and expansion program called Branches to Business that launched in October 2025, a Global Economic, Cultural and Tourism Engagement Committee endorsed by council in March 2026, and a film pilot program that coordinated 108 filming days across 26 productions in its third year.

How the ranking is measured

Site Selection counts corporate facility projects that involve construction plus at least $1 million invested, at least 20 new jobs, or at least 20,000 square feet of new space. The 2026 list covers projects entered between June 1, 2025 and May 31, 2026.
