Costco Opening Soon Sign Goes Up on Wyecroft Road
An Opening Soon sign is now standing at the Costco site on Wyecroft Road near Burloak Drive, the clearest confirmation yet that Oakville is getting its first warehouse.
The store replaces part of the RioCan Centre Burloak plaza. Costco will occupy about 15,662 square metres, with more than 1,000 parking spaces, a portion of them underground, plus a standalone gas bar near South Service Road West and RioCan Boulevard.
The project has final site plan approval from the Town, demolition of the older parts of the plaza is finished, and construction and underground infrastructure work are underway. The current target for opening is fall 2027.
The closest warehouses today are in Burlington and Mississauga. Residents commenting on the news said the Wyecroft store should take some pressure off the Burlington location and cut the drive for anyone who has been heading to Mississauga, with a few noting the gas bar as the bigger draw.
Oakville is one of several new Ontario Costcos in progress. The company is also working toward stores in Halton Hills, Windsor, Caledon and Wasaga Beach. The Halton Hills warehouse, near Regional Road 25 and 5 Sideroad, is also expected to open in 2027.
