Golf Town's First Flagship Store Opens in Oakville

Golf Town's first flagship store is open in Oakville at 290 North Service Road West, after a grand opening weekend on October 17 and 18. The store covers 40,000 square feet, about two and a half times the size of a standard Golf Town, and it is the company's 50th location in Canada.

Most of the extra room went to things you can hit a ball into. There are five Foresight simulator bays and two StudioX custom fitting bays built on a moving platform that tilts to copy the slopes and breaks of a real green, along with putter fitting technology. The putting green runs 1,300 square feet, four times the size of the one in a standard store, and carries the company's first dual projector PuttView installation, which projects the read of a putt onto the surface.

On the retail side there are dedicated spaces for TaylorMade, Callaway, Odyssey, PING and Titleist, a footwear section built around FootJoy's FJ FitLAB scanner, and a personalization lab that stamps wedges and prints logos on golf balls. Golf Town says the apparel section holds the largest selection of premium golf clothing in the country, with a redesigned women's shop.

The store represents a $15 million investment, and the company is treating Oakville as the prototype for flagship stores elsewhere in Canada. "Our new flagship store marks an exciting step forward in our evolution, offering a welcoming destination for golfers of all levels to gather, gear up, and fall in love with the game," said Barry Williams, president of Golf Town.

Canadian touches run through the building, including course photography from across the country and the same putting cups used at Cabot Cape Breton. Oakville already had the golf history, Glen Abbey included, so the first flagship landing here is not much of a surprise.
