Oakville Historical Society Ghost Walks Run October 13 to 30

Costumed guides playing Oakville characters from the 1800s will be leading small groups through the old part of town most evenings this month. The Oakville Historical Society runs its Ghost Walks from October 13 to October 30, every evening except Sundays, with one hour tours leaving at 6:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.

Walks start and end at the Historical Society offices at 110 King Street. The way in is through the big white gates at the corner of Navy Street and King Street, then along the path to the cottage with the blue door. The route covers sidewalks, gravel paths and park grass, so wear shoes you can walk in.

The tours are built for families, with Oakville history worked into the ghost stories, and they finish with light refreshments and time to ask questions. Tickets are $15 for adults and teens 13 and over, and $8 for children aged 2 to 12. Anyone under 18 needs an adult along, one adult for every four minors, and those adults buy an adult ticket as well.

Each walk is capped at 15 people, so evenings fill up. Reservations have to be made in advance, online sales close four hours before a walk starts, and tickets go first come, first served. The Society does not keep a waitlist, so a preferred night can already be gone. Changes or a full refund are available up to 48 hours before a walk time.

Before you go

Walks continue in the rain, but a walk is cancelled if thunder is heard, so dress for the weather. Pets are not allowed, though approved service animals can come with advance notice. Groups of up to 30 can book and get split into two walks.
