Jane Austen Tea Party Comes to the Oakville Golf Club

High tea, dramatic readings from Persuasion and music written for Austen's own era take over the Oakville Golf Club this Thursday afternoon, October 8. Plumleaf Press is throwing the party to launch its special edition of the novel, and tickets are $50.

The publisher works out of 100 Bronte Road in Oakville, so this is a hometown launch. Its edition of Persuasion sells for $32.95, and the tea party marks the release.

Austen's characters spend a fair share of their pages over a teapot, which makes the format an easy fit for the book. The afternoon runs from 2pm to 5pm.

Plumleaf has run this kind of afternoon before, including a tea with readings for Lucy Maud Montgomery's 150th birthday and a Jane Austen 250th birthday celebration featuring readings by Marilyn Lightstone. Dress for the Regency if the mood strikes!
