No GO Trains Between Oakville and Aldershot This Weekend

Anyone riding Lakeshore West past Oakville this weekend needs a different plan. Metrolinx is upgrading track between Oakville GO and Aldershot GO, and no trains run between those two stations while the work is underway.

Trains still operate between Oakville GO and Union Station, and between Niagara Falls GO and Aldershot GO. GO buses bridge the closed section, running between West Harbour, Aldershot and Oakville to connect with the trains. Regularly scheduled trains that begin and end at Confederation GO and West Harbour GO are cancelled for the weekend.

Two stations drop off the map completely. Appleby GO and Bronte GO have no GO Transit service at all, trains or buses, until the work finishes.

Friday night carries its own set of changes. The 11:47 p.m., 12:17 a.m. and 12:47 a.m. trains out of Union Station all end at Oakville GO. From there, bus route 18N makes every stop through to Aldershot GO, while route 18P runs to Burlington and Aldershot and skips Appleby and Bronte.

Riders heading toward Hamilton should leave 15 to 25 minutes for the connection from the replacement bus to a regular route 18 bus at Aldershot GO, or take the 18E, which runs about half an hour either side of the usual route 18 trips. Monday morning is not quite back to normal either: trains will arrive and depart up to five minutes off their scheduled times, and trains between Niagara Falls GO and Confederation GO are moving at reduced speed because of track conditions.
