Oakville Photographer Mark Zelinski Presents Land Between Waters

Mark Zelinski is bringing his new book about the Niagara Escarpment to the Trafalgar Park Community Centre this Wednesday, October 7, and getting in the door costs nothing.

"Niagara Escarpment: Land Between Waters" is the Oakville born photographer's tenth book, and it holds more than 600 landscape, wildlife and cultural photographs of the ridge that runs across southern Ontario. Zelinski has worked in more than 80 countries over a career spanning five decades, and this one turns the camera on the landform closest to home.

Five guest speakers who contributed to the book will talk alongside the photographs: Chief Margaret Sault of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Michael McDonald of the Bruce Trail Conservancy, Brian Kon of the Orange Shirt Society, Ed McDonnell of the Ontario Greenbelt Foundation, and Dr. David Galbraith of the Royal Botanical Gardens.

The night also raises money. Entrance is free, copies of the book will be sold at a discount, and all profit from those sales goes to Oakville Festivals of Film and Art to support emerging filmmakers.

If you want to go

Wednesday, October 7 at 7pm, Trafalgar Park Community Centre, 133 Rebecca Street. Entrance is free and books will be available for signing.

Giving books away is familiar ground for Zelinski. Through a project he calls Books That Heal, he has donated 9,000 photography books to 140 charities around the world.
