A workshop for women to develop safe, confident, and responsible social media use while protecting themselves and their families online.
Participants will explore popular social media platforms, learn to recognize common online risks including cyberbullying, scams, grooming, impersonation, and privacy threats, and develop strategies to respond to harmful behaviour. The workshop covers digital footprints, safe sharing practices, account privacy and security settings, responsible use of AI tools, and the importance of protecting personal and family information.
Through practical examples and real-world scenarios, attendees will gain skills to identify risks, support their children in navigating digital spaces, report harmful content, and make informed decisions when engaging with social media.
Facilitator: Prerna Seth, Cybersecurity & Data Management Program Co-Manager at The Women's Centre of Halton. With an engineering background, an MBA, and a Diploma Certification in Cybersecurity Analytics & Cloud Operations from York University, Prerna builds digital confidence in individuals and the communities she serves.
