Artist Talk with Quinn Hopkins
Reported
An artist talk and meet-and-greet with Quinn Hopkins [mixed, non-status Anishinaabe], an interdisciplinary artist based in Toronto. Hopkins works across painting, digital print, interactive projection, and augmented reality, drawing from the Woodland School lineage of Norval Morrisseau, Daphne Odjig, and Arthur Shilling. Through his framework Hyper Woodland, he positions Anishinaabe futurism as a continuation of that tradition. His immersive installations and digital artworks explore ancestral storytelling, technological innovation, and cultural resurgence, influenced by Indigenous futurists including Cannupa Hanska Luger, Lawrence Paul Yuxweluptun, and Skawennati.
The afternoon begins with an opportunity to view Abstract Landscape and meet Quinn. An artist talk and Q&A follows, with refreshments and time to explore the rest of the gallery to close.
