Take a stroll through Gairloch Gardens where the landscape unfolds into a captivating story! Oakville Galleries invites you to experience one of the most beloved works in our permanent collection with Janet Cardiff’s immersive outdoor audio walk, A Large Slow River .

Commissioned in 1999 and recorded live on-site at Gairloch Gardens, A Large Slow River responds directly to the landscape, creating a unique sensory experience that encourages visitors to slow down, observe, and listen closely.

Program Details Dates: Friday, June 19, 2026 Time: Drop in between 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM Location: 1306 Lakeshore Road East, Oakville, ON Capacity: 13 participants, first come, first served After the walk, visitors are welcome to linger in the gardens, enjoy the summer weather, purchase light refreshments from local vendors as part of The Art of Refreshment , and visit Oakville Galleries’ current exhibition .

MP3's provided. Headphones and audio equipment are available to borrow from the front desk. Visitors are also welcome to use their own headphones, with Bluetooth compatibility available.
