Never Get Lost Again: Intro to Orienteering and Map Reading

Never Get Lost Again: Intro to Orienteering and Map Reading

Learn to navigate with a map and compass in this hands-on outdoor course. No experience needed. In one half-day session, participants move from the basics of finding north to confidently navigating with a topographic map and compass on a real orienteering challenge.

This is not a classroom lecture. The course is structured in two parts: learn the fundamentals indoors or in a sheltered setting, then immediately apply those skills on the trail.

The course is ideal for hikers who want to stop relying on GPS apps, Scout leaders building their program, or anyone who wants to feel confident navigating backcountry without a phone signal.

The venue, Sixteen Hallow in Lions Valley, is set in a deep glacial valley carved by Sixteen Mile Creek, offering a scenic and immersive learning environment away from suburban distractions.
