Never Get Lost Again: Intro to Orienteering and Map Reading
Learn to navigate with a map and compass in this hands-on outdoor course. No experience needed. In one half-day session, participants move from the basics of finding north to confidently navigating with a topographic map and compass on a real orienteering challenge.
This is not a classroom lecture. The course is structured in two parts: learn the fundamentals indoors, then immediately apply them outdoors on an actual navigation exercise.
The setting is Sixteen Hallow in Lions Valley, a deep glacial valley carved by Sixteen Mile Creek. Descending from the plateau, the landscape feels removed from suburban rush.
Ideal for hikers wanting to move beyond phone apps, Scout leaders building program skills, or anyone seeking confidence navigating backcountry terrain.
