British Car Day Returns to Bronte Creek This Sunday

Over 1,000 British cars will fill a field at Bronte Creek Provincial Park this Sunday, September 20, and you can walk the rows of them for about the price of parking. British Car Day is back for its 41st year, and it is what it has always been: MGs, Triumphs, Jaguars and Minis lined up with their hoods open and their owners standing beside them, happy to talk.

The Toronto Triumph Club has run the show at Bronte Creek on the third Sunday of September since 1984. It is now the largest one-day all-British car event in North America, pulling owners from Ontario, Quebec, Manitoba, the Maritimes and the northeast United States. Cars are sorted into 56 classes covering everything from Austin to Westfield, and condition is not a barrier. Concours restorations park near daily drivers and half-finished projects.

Some people travel a long way for it. Last year's long-distance award went to Rod Patriquin, who drove his 1959 Singer Gazelle roughly 1,800 kilometres each way from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. The 2025 show put close to 900 cars on a field that holds 1,150, and just over 9,000 people came through the gates.

Past the cars, the Vendor Village runs more than 40 stalls selling parts, tools, books, hats and the occasional complete car, and plenty of them mark things down at the end of the season. Food vendors are on site. Dogs on a leash are welcome in the park.

If you are bringing a British car of your own, entry at the gate is $25 for a car and $15 for a motorcycle, and show cars use the north maintenance entrance where Burloak Drive turns into Upper Middle Road. Get there early!
