Oakville Remembrance Day Ceremonies 2026: November 8 and November 11
Oakville holds three Remembrance Day ceremonies this year, and the first one is on Sunday. They fall inside Veterans' Week, which runs from November 5 to November 11.
The Bronte Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion goes first. A walk leaves the branch at 79 Jones Street at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, November 8 and heads to the cenotaph at Chris Vokes Memorial Park, where the ceremony runs from 10:50 a.m. to noon.
On Remembrance Day itself, Wednesday, November 11, the Oakville Branch holds its parade to George's Square, stepping off from Oakville Trafalgar Community Centre at 325 Reynolds Street at 10:30 a.m., with the ceremony at the square to follow. A third ceremony takes place the same morning at the Trafalgar Memorial in Memorial Park, from 10:40 a.m. to noon.
New this year, the town and Legion branches 114 and 486 have started a Veterans Commemorative Banner Program. Twelve banners carrying a remembrance message and a poppy design are up near Oakville's three cenotaph and memorial sites, on display from mid October to mid November. A second phase will add banners that name individual veterans with Oakville connections, and the eligibility and application details for those are due in early 2027.
Anyone who cannot get to a ceremony can still mark the day by wearing a poppy and stopping for two minutes of silence at 11 a.m. on November 11. Ceremony details are on the town's Remembrance Day page, and the banner program is set out on the veterans memorials page.
