Art in the Park Returns to Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park on August 3
Art in the Park takes over Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park on Monday, August 3, from 10am to 5pm. The show runs one day only, always on the Civic Holiday Monday, at Bronte Road and Ontario Street.
More than 175 booths line the grass, and every one of them sells original work. The Oakville Art Society picks artists on originality and command of their medium, so the mix runs wide: oil, acrylic and watercolour paintings, glass, ceramics, photography, mixed media, sculpture and fine jewellery. Artists come in from across the country, and most stand at their own booths, so you can ask how a piece was made before you buy it.
Admission at the gate is $10 per person, or $15 for two, and kids under 12 get in free. The presale rate of $10 for two people ends July 31, so anyone arriving Monday pays the door price. Admission money goes back into Oakville Art Society programming.
The society started the show in 1965 to put local artists in front of a crowd. It has since grown into the biggest art event in Oakville, with a reputation as one of the best-run art shows in southern Ontario, and it draws thousands of people to the Bronte waterfront every summer.
