Oakville's Fall Celtic Festival Returns This Weekend, Free To Get In
Highland dancers, pipe bands and a whiskey flight served inside an inflatable pub: the Oakville Fall Celtic Festival takes over the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre on Saturday and Sunday, September 26 and 27, and it costs nothing to walk in.
Music runs both days, pipe bands through to modern folk acts, with local bands, orchestras, singers and choirs on the bill. Around it are the Highland dance competitions and the feiseanna, which are worth standing still for even if you have never watched one.
Kids get their own corner of it. The KidZone has craft stations, face painting and a scavenger hunt. At the other end of the site there are local brews, ready to drink cocktails, food, and the tasting: four whiskey samples poured in a custom inflatable pub.
One part of the weekend you can enter yourself. Bring a Celtic themed pumpkin, or a traditional Irish turnip, and it gets judged at the festival. Start carving!

Saturday and Sunday, September 26 and 27, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre. Admission is free and all ages are welcome. Parking is limited, so the organisers suggest carpooling, taking transit, or grabbing a taxi from Oakville GO.
