Oakville Remembrance Trail Run Returns to Lions Valley on Saturday
There are two distances at Lions Valley on Saturday morning, and one of them is new. The Oakville Remembrance Trail Run returns for its second year on Saturday, November 7, with a 10am start and a choice between the 11km and 5km trail routes. The 5km was added this year so people of all abilities could take part.
The run raises money for Wounded Warriors Canada, which provides mental health services to trauma exposed organizations, professionals and their families through education, counselling and training. The first Oakville run brought in more than $20,000, and the turnout is what the organisers are trying to build on this weekend.
New this year is the Marc Pinizzotto Cup, which goes to the team that raises the most. It is named in memory of the Oakville Constable who lost his life in the line of duty earlier this year.
If you want to take part
Saturday, November 7, 10am, Lions Valley. Registration and team pages are open on the event site, and any donation over $20 gets a tax receipt.
Entries and fundraising pages are on the Oakville event page, and the programs the money pays for are set out by Wounded Warriors Canada. Two years in is usually where a local run either sticks or fades, and the 5km is there to make sticking easier.
