Four Big Events Fill Oakville's Calendar This Weekend

Oakville has four major events running between Friday and Sunday, spread across the west end, Kerr Village, Old Oakville and Oak Park. Three of them are free to walk into, and two run all three days, so a full weekend is possible without driving far.

The Oakville Lifestyle Fall Home Show opens first, Friday afternoon at the Glen Abbey Community Centre on Third Line. Renovation and decor companies set up for the weekend, which makes it the easiest stop for anyone sizing up a fall project. Doors are open Friday from 1 to 6 p.m., then 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Kerrfest starts a few hours later at Westwood Park on Kerr Street. The first band plays at 4 p.m. Friday, with music, food vendors and a market carrying through the weekend. Saturday music begins at noon and Sunday activities start at 11 a.m.

Saturday is the busiest day

Art in My Garden takes over Old Oakville on Saturday afternoon, with more than 65 artists showing work in 35 private gardens near the lake. It is in its sixth year, admission is free, and visitors can add their own piece to the Hanging in Harmony project on display at Erchless Estate.

Across town, the Oak Park Fall Fair runs from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the Oak Park Neighbourhood Centre. The 29th edition brings inflatables, entertainers, a silent auction, a bake sale and an outdoor movie to close the night. It has won the Oakville Platinum Readers' Choice award for best festival and usually draws more than 4,000 people.

Weather looks cooperative: sunny and 23C on Friday, cloudy and 26C on Saturday, with a chance of showers on Sunday.
