🏗️ Construction Begins on the New Costco

Instagram post

Demolition has begun at a plaza near Wyecroft Road and Burloak Drive, clearing space for a long-anticipated Costco that will sit right on the Oakville-Burlington border. Originally planned as a retrofit of existing stores, the project has shifted to a full rebuild, pushing the opening to 2027. The site will be easily accessible from the QEW via RioCan Boulevard and Wyecroft Road.

The new warehouse will span over 15,000 square metres and include all the usual Costco departments, plus a gas bar. More than 1,000 parking spots are planned, split between surface and underground levels, along with bike racks and accessible parking.

But don’t worry, it will still be hard to find a spot. (for that full Costco experience)

⛸️ Refrigerated Rinks Now Open

Oakville has officially opened its two refrigerated outdoor rinks for the 2025-26 winter season. Both Trafalgar Park and Wallace Park are ready for skating, and admission is free on a first-come, first-served basis. Hours are posted on site, and while helmets aren’t required, they’re strongly recommended during public skates.

The town is reminding residents not to use any of the unrefrigerated rinks, which remain closed for now due to inconsistent weather. That includes popular spots like Coronation, Glenashton, and Bloomfield Park. Fingers crossed the weather cools down enough to bring them back later this winter.

⛷️ Skiing Season Has Returned

For the second year in a row, Glen Eden is kicking off its ski and snowboard season ahead of schedule, officially opening today with full-day hours from 8:30am to 9:30pm. Thanks to steady snowfall and perfect snow-making conditions, the Milton hill is launching its earliest season in a decade, edging out last year’s December 13 opening.
