DINNER CLUB RECAP 🍸
Earlier this week on Tuesday night, we hosted the first ever Oakville Digest Dinner Club.

70 strangers met for dinner across multiple restaurants downtown, with an afterparty at the Kings Arms that brought all the tables together.
Thank you to everyone who put themselves out there and made this first ever event a success.
Here is some of the awesome feedback we received:
“Words cannot describe my amazing experience last night meeting Mary, Nick, Sarah and Matt. They were all such kind people and we all hit it off right from the moment we sat down. We all were able to make great conversation and never was there an awkward silence. The service at 7 was impeccable and the food was delicious.” - Nikita V.
"Loved the experience! Met some great people and got to try a new restaurant" - Karuna M.
"Had a great time. So nice to meet new people! And dinner was great" - Maria B.
We also appreciate everyone sharing all of the ways we can improve. For the next dinner we will work on refining the matching algorithm, and making sure the afterparty has lots of space and waiters! 🍻🥂
NEXT DINNER: Thursday April 23rd @6:30PM.
We hope you can make it :)
Print is Back 📰
After more than two years, the Burlington Post and Oakville Beaver are returning to print.
They’ll now be published once a month, with the first issues rolling out in late March for Burlington and early April for Oakville. Their websites will still be updated regularly, so this is more of an added option than a replacement.
Print stopped back in 2023 during a tough stretch for the industry, largely tied to declining ad revenue. Since then, everything moved online.
For many readers, the return of the physical paper is exciting. There’s something about sitting down and flipping through the pages that really resonates with people.
The new monthly editions will be free and available at various spots around the community for pick up.

Canada Day at Sheridan 🎆
Oakville’s Canada Day celebration could be getting a new home this year.
The town is looking at Sheridan College’s Trafalgar Campus as the main location for 2026, after ruling out both Bronte and Coronation Park. The waterfront spot has been a go-to for years, but safety concerns, including nearby groups setting off illegal fireworks, pushed the search for a new space.
Sheridan stands out because it can handle big crowds, with room for vendors, performances, and a possible fireworks or drone show. The event can draw up to 30,000 people.
If approved, the move would likely be temporary while the town figures out a longer-term plan.

Town Square’s LOOP 🔄
LOOP is a new outdoor art exhibit set up in Town Square, and it’s meant to be experienced from the inside.
Each piece is built as a circular pod you can sit in. Once you’re inside, animated visuals play all around you, telling a short story as they move across the walls. There’s a short description on the outside of each one, then you pull a lever and the sequence starts.
It’s a quick, interactive stop if you’re passing through the area. The exhibit is only running until April 6, so it won’t be there for long.

Oakville Science Fair Winners 🧪
A couple of Oakville students had a strong showing at this year’s Bay Area Science and Engineering Fair.
It’s a regional competition for students across Halton and Hamilton, where Grades 7 to 12 present projects in science, tech, engineering, and math. Top entries can move on to compete internationally.
This year, Abbey Park High School students Jordan LeBlanc and Krishangi Oberoi took first and second place. Their projects focused on AI and new approaches to disease treatment, and helped their school earn the top overall trophy.
Both students are now heading to an international fair in Arizona this May, representing the region on a much bigger stage. A huge congrats to these impressive Oakville students.
