Oakville Fines for Fireworks 🎆
Oakville is introducing $500 fines for youth caught with fireworks, part of a tougher approach after recent Canada Day celebrations in Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park drew large, unruly teen crowds.
Incidents of fireworks being set off near people, cars and buildings pushed the town close to cancelling its 2026 festivities before public pressure reversed that decision.
With celebrations back on, the town and Halton Regional Police Service are rolling out a proactive plan. Expect increased patrols, restricted park access, lighting upgrades and outreach through local schools. Parents will also receive notices if their child is fined, putting responsibility closer to home.
Halton On Track For Net Zero 🌱
Halton Region says it remains on pace to hit net-zero emissions by 2045, with a new report showing progress across all 34 climate actions and completion of key national milestones.
Efforts include heat pump upgrades in housing, methane reduction studies at wastewater sites, and stronger flood response plans after the 2024 storms, all part of a broader push to track and cut emissions locally.
At council, one member supported the goal but flagged concerns about provincial limits on green standards and Ontario’s reliance on gas-fired power. Another Oakville representative pushed for clearer next steps, including larger projects like solar installations, as the Region shifts from planning to action.
Town Community Survey Results 📋
Oakville residents are giving the Town high marks in its 2026 Community Satisfaction Survey, a biannual poll that gathers feedback on local services, value for taxes and overall quality of life.
Results show 90 per cent satisfaction with services, 91 per cent reporting positive interactions with staff, and 86 per cent feeling a strong sense of belonging, numbers that keep Oakville ahead of many GTA communities.
Parks, libraries and fire services led the rankings, while roads, sidewalks and municipal enforcement were flagged as areas needing attention. The Town will use this feedback as it plans budgets and service improvements over the next two years, with plenty of eyes locally on whether those weaker spots see noticeable upgrades.

🚧 Road Closures for Lakeshore and Glenashton

Students Head To National Showcase 🚀
Students from Abbey Park High School and Thomas A. Blakelock High School are preparing for a major moment as three teams compete in Samsung Solve for Tomorrow.
The national contest brings young innovators face to face with industry experts, and Oakville will be well represented with projects tackling real-world environmental challenges.
One team developed an AI-powered waste sorting tool aimed at teaching kids proper recycling habits, while two Blakelock teams created solutions targeting microplastics from laundry and food waste through shelf-life extension technology.
With presentations set in front of hundreds, it is a big stage for local students, and a strong showing from Oakville classrooms already earning attention, congratulations to all involved as they take it nationwide.
Nadège Oakville Marks Three Years 🍰

Nadège Patisserie at 249 Lakeshore Rd E
Nadège Patisserie celebrated its third anniversary with a sweet turnout, welcoming locals and handing out free macarons to the first 300 guests.
The Lakeshore spot was packed as customers sampled its signature treats alongside croissants, cookies and sandwiches, with Chef Nadège Nourian on hand to meet visitors and mark the milestone.
Mayor Rob Burton and Councillor Janet Haslett-Theall joined the celebration, presenting Nourian with a certificate recognizing the bakery’s impact since opening in 2023. As the only non-Toronto location for the brand, the Oakville shop has quickly become a go-to for French pastries in town, congratulations to the team on a strong three-year run.
