Deadmau5 Helps The Cats 🐱

Deadmau5, known cat lover
A group of cats rescued from a Milton home is getting medical care and a fresh start after Deadmau5 stepped in to cover the bill.
We recently covered how the Humane Society of Oakville, Milton and Halton took in 27 cats and kittens on May 27. None had received vet care, and they needed exams, vaccines, spay and neuter surgeries, microchips, food, and daily support. One cat also needed emergency surgery for a life-threatening infection, bringing the total cost to about $30,000.
Milton’s Joel Zimmerman, better known as famous electronic music producer Deadmau5, covered the full amount and helped shine a brighter light on the shelter’s work. He has long been known as a cat lover, with his late cat Professor Meowingtons becoming part of Deadmau5 lore. The shelter has since took in nine more cats from the same home, bringing its cat count to 101.
“I might take one, because I’m a sucker.” - Zimmerman.
GO Delays Hit This Weekend 🚊
Track upgrades linked to GO Expansion will reshape rail service across several corridors this weekend, with the biggest impact hitting Lakeshore West riders.
From Saturday morning through Sunday evening, trains on the Lakeshore West line will run hourly between West Harbour and Union, and every 30 minutes between Oakville and Union. Some trips from Oakville will require a 15-to-30-minute connection to complete the journey west. There are also some service tweaks tonight.
Lakeshore East will see no train service at all this weekend, with GO buses replacing trains at most stations. UP Express will run every 30 minutes instead of the usual frequency.
Regular service resumes Monday morning.
CDH Seeks Community Ambassadors 🤝
Community Development Halton is looking for volunteer ambassadors across the region, including positions open in Oakville. Ambassadors reach out to their communities and share information about volunteer opportunities and civic engagement in a flexible, active role.
CDH is also recruiting volunteer drivers for Meals on Wheels, a service that delivers food to Oakville residents who struggle to prepare meals. Interested residents can apply online or call 289-348-1504 for more information.

Rock Bring NLL Cup Home 🏆

The Toronto Rock won their first title since 2011
The Toronto Rock brought the National Lacrosse League championship trophy to Oakville on Sunday, celebrating their first title since 2011 with fans at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre. The event featured autographs, photos, and games.
Several Rock players are from Oakville, including Josh Dawick, who played a key role in the championship run. Dawick grew up in the Oakville Hawks minor lacrosse system and said seeing kids in Hawks jerseys at the celebration was "super cool."
Owner Jamie Dawick told the crowd the trophy is "for you guys" and thanked fans for their support. Josh Dawick said he hopes the win inspires the next generation of Oakville players to pursue their own NLL dreams.
