World Cup Watch Parties ⚽

Pine Glen Soccer Centre
Excited for the World Cup? Well the Oakville Soccer Club is hosting free watch parties for all three of Canada's group stage matches at the FIFA World Cup, starting this Friday at Pine Glen Soccer Centre on Pine Glen Road!
The club will set up a large screen on the indoor fields, with doors opening 30 minutes before each kickoff. Canada faces Bosnia and Herzegovina on Friday, June 12 at 3 p.m., Qatar on June 18 at 6 p.m., and Switzerland on June 24 at 3 p.m.
Attendees should bring blankets for seating. Folding chairs and food aren't allowed on the field, and kids need to come with an adult. No RSVP required.
Galleries Rejects Condo Move 🖼️

Oakville Galleries in Gairloch Gardens
Oakville Galleries has turned down a town proposal to relocate from the historic Gairloch Estate to the bottom two floors of a planned 17-storey condo tower at Randall and Navy streets. The gallery's board voted unanimously against the move.
Instead, the organization wants to stay at Gairloch while exploring a second downtown location, potentially sharing space in a future performing arts centre planned for Centennial Square. The gallery is also pitching a feasibility study to expand its lakefront site with added exhibition space.
Town staff raised concerns about increased parking and neighbour complaints, but council has directed staff to work with the gallery and report back by December.

Mayor’s Picnic Draws Crowds 🧺
Hundreds of families turned out to Lakeside Park on Sunday for the annual Mayor's Historical Picnic, enjoying a sunny afternoon of games, live music, and carnival activities.
Organized by the Oakville Historical Society and the town, the event featured performances from local choirs and the Oakville Wind Orchestra, along with face painting, stilt-walking jugglers, and historical displays. The Oakville Public Library, Rail Halton, and the Canadian Caribbean Association of Halton set up booths showcasing photographs and excerpts from Oakville's history.
With gorgeous lakeside views and town pride on full display, attendees spent a relaxing afternoon learning and enjoying.
Kaya Is Ready To Bloom 🐾
Kaya, a one-year-old Akbash-Labrador mix, is looking for a patient forever home where she can build confidence at her own pace.
Transferred from another organization, this spayed female is affectionate, food motivated, smart, and already knows her name and “sit.”
She bonds deeply with her people, loves gentle pets, bum scratches, fetch, walks, balls, and stuffies. Kaya needs an adult-only, detached home with experienced guardians, a secure yard, slow introductions, continued training, and no other dogs. For the right person, this cuddly girl has a whole lot of love waiting to come out.
