Let’s work together.

Bronte Canada Day Returns 🎆
After months of debate over safety concerns, Oakville council has reversed its earlier decision and reinstated Canada Day celebrations at Bronte Waterfront Park.
The event had been cancelled following repeated issues with large teen crowds and unsafe fireworks use, sparking strong pushback from residents who wanted to preserve the tradition. That steady public pressure, along with discussions at council and with police, kept the issue alive.
Now, councillors have unanimously approved the event’s return, backed by an extra $75,000 for enhanced security, staffing, and crowd control. Halton police will treat it as a major event with added resources and earlier intervention.

Huge Entertainment Hub Coming 🎮
A major new indoor entertainment destination is set to transform Oakville Place, bringing a mix of food, games, and family-friendly activities under one roof.
The upcoming “Forever Young” venue will feature arcade games, VR experiences, karaoke rooms, party spaces, and an indoor playground, creating an all-in-one spot to eat, play, and celebrate.
The project is part of a larger redevelopment led by RioCan, taking over the former Hudson’s Bay space alongside the 60,000 sq ft Nations Fresh Foods grocery store we covered on Monday’s newsletter.
With over 120,000 sq ft planned and a fall 2026 opening, Oakville Place is clearly shifting toward a more experience-driven future. Looks like mall trips might get a lot more interesting.
Sixteen Mile Hub Now Open 🏟️
Oakville’s newest community space officially opened yesterday, with the Sixteen Mile Sports Complex now in a soft opening phase at 3070 Neyagawa Blvd. The new hub brings together a community centre and a permanent branch of the Oakville Public Library, giving residents early access while final touches continue across the building.
Visitors can now use the gymnasium, fitness centre and studio, indoor track, community rooms, and drop-in programs, along with the new Sixteen Mile library for browsing and study.
Registered programs begin rolling out in April, with free guided tours also available. The pools are still in final testing and expected to open in time for summer programming, rounding out the full facility.

🍃 Oakville Mom Launches tend
A new Oakville-based startup is aiming to make childcare a little easier for busy families.
Local mom Haley Blackwood has just launched tend, an on-demand platform that lets parents browse vetted local sitters, view profiles, and book care directly, all in one place without the usual back-and-forth.
Designed for real-life gaps like last-minute meetings, sick days, or a long-overdue night out, Tend focuses on quick, flexible access to trusted childcare. The platform is starting right here in Oakville, with plans to grow as more families and sitters join. A homegrown idea tackling a challenge many local parents know all too well.
Oakville Student Spreads Joy 🎗️
An 11-year-old Oakville student is turning her cancer journey into a mission to help others, creating care packages for kids across Ontario.
After being diagnosed in 2024, Charlotte Andaloro began painting tote bags filled with toys, activities, and comfort items for pediatric patients, inspired by her own experience at McMaster Children’s Hospital.
With help from family and friends, she has already delivered more than 200 bags to hospitals in Hamilton, Ottawa, Kingston, and London.
Each tote carries a personal touch, decorated with bright artwork and a message of resilience, alongside carefully chosen items like games and gift cards. Charlotte, a student at Emily Carr Public School, says she hopes to remind other kids they are not alone. A powerful example of courage and compassion, and a reminder that even the smallest acts can lift someone’s hardest days.
