🛒 New Way To Grocery Shop

Loblaw has rolled out a new option for shoppers at Loblaws, No Frills and other banner stores across Canada. The company has launched its PC Express app within ChatGPT, giving customers another way to build grocery lists and place pickup orders through a conversational tool.

After connecting the app inside ChatGPT, users can ask for meal ideas, select items from nearby Loblaw banner stores, and check out for pickup. What are your thoughts?

Is this something you would actually use?

🎓 Learn About Post-Secondary Options

Oakville students looking ahead to life after high school can tune in to an HCDSB webinar on Feb. 26 at 7pm. The Catholic Parent Involvement Committee is hosting the virtual session on Microsoft Teams to help parents and students sort through post-secondary options.

Dr. Jon Callegher of Job Talks will cover what makes a “good job,” student well-being, university and college perspectives, and the benefits of skilled trades, offering practical insight into today’s changing education landscape.

🌊 Careful Near Local Waterways

With milder temperatures and rain or snow in the forecast, Conservation Halton is warning Oakville residents to be careful around rivers and creeks this week. Melting snow, frozen ground, and existing ice cover could lead to higher water levels, faster currents, and possible ice jams, especially midweek.

Widespread flooding is not expected, but low-lying areas may see pooling water. Officials are reminding families to keep a safe distance from waterways, bridges, and ice-covered surfaces, as conditions can change quickly.

🔥 Frost And Flame Warms Downtown

Downtown Oakville welcomed its first Frost and Flame festival over the Family Day weekend, drawing families out for music, food and fire-filled entertainment. DJ Clymaxxx kept the energy up through the afternoon, while visitors lined up for maple taffy poured on ice and hot halloumi skewers fresh off the grill.

Organized by the Oakville BIA, the event aimed to bring people outdoors during the winter lull, and local businesses reported a steady stream of visitors. With fire shows, hot chocolate and busy sidewalks, the new festival was a big success.

🥇 Oakville Duo Eyes Olympic Gold

Oakville’s Brianne Jenner and Kristin O’Neill are set to compete for Olympic gold after Team Canada beat Switzerland 2-1 in Monday’s semifinal. Captain Marie-Philip Poulin scored both goals to secure Canada’s spot in the Gold Medal game against USA on Thursday at 1:10pm.

Jenner has three points in the tournament and stepped into a larger leadership role, while O’Neill has added two goals in a depth role during her first Olympics. Whatever the outcome, Oakville will have two hometown players on the podium.
