🏗️ Bronte Condo Project Stalls, Site Taken Over
The empty lot at the corner of Bronte and Lakeshore will remain unfinished for now, after the stalled condo project there was officially taken over by a court-appointed company on Dec. 2. This happened after the developer fell behind on a $19.1 million loan, as well as over $1 million in unpaid construction bills and property taxes.
The town says it couldn’t prevent the collapse of the luxury condo plan, which has been sitting untouched since the old plaza was torn down in 2024. For now, the focus is on cleaning up the site by moving back construction fencing and fixing the sidewalk area. The street beside it will stay one-way permanently, but zoning rules mean no taller building can be put there without town approval.
🎄 Oakville’s Santa Clause House Listed on Airbnb
Fans of The Santa Clause can now spend the holidays at the Oakville home where the 1994 movie was filmed. Located at 17 Chisholm Street, the townhouse served as Tim Allen’s character’s house in the film’s early scenes, including the rooftop moment that kicks off the story.
Listed as a luxury Airbnb, the renovated three-storey home features two bedrooms, modern finishes, and festive décor. A two-night Christmas stay costs about $4,200 plus fees. Nostalgia, it turns out, comes with a hefty price tag.
