Together With Burloak Indoor Golf!

Hey Oakville 👋

Sean Casey here, founder of Burloak Indoor Golf.

When I opened this place, the goal was to create one of Canada’s most complete one-stop shops for indoor golf. A space built for performance, but just as much for hanging out and having fun. We’ve got 12 TrackMan simulators, a full short game area, pool tables, dart boards, a licensed restaurant, a full pro shop with fittings and repairs, plus on-site rehab, all supported by one of the largest teams of PGA professionals in the country.

The space is also available for private bookings and events, and it’s been a great fit for birthday parties, corporate events, team socials, and group nights out where people can golf, eat, drink, and hang out all in one place.

We offer various options depending on what you’re looking for, from renting out the entire facility to booking a dedicated section for your group.

If you’re an Oakville Digest reader, I’d love for you to experience it yourself. Send me a message at [email protected] with what event you would like to host, mention you were sent from the newsletter, and I’ll take $100 off your event booking.

⛸️ Oakville’s Madeline Schizas Goes Viral

Oakville’s very own figure skater Madeline Schizas went viral during the Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics after emailing a McMaster University professor to request a homework extension, explaining she had been competing at the Olympics and misread the due date.

Schizas shared the email on Instagram, adding a press link for proof, and the post quickly took off. She later told CBC she simply mixed up the deadline, not her priorities, and her professor granted the extension. Have you ever used a more impressive excuse?

💘 Valentine’s Pop-Up Photos

Downtown Oakville is adding a fun way to celebrate Valentine’s weekend with a roaming photo booth van offering free pictures on Feb. 14 and 15. The pop-up is designed for couples, friends, and anyone looking to capture a sweet winter moment downtown.

The van will park Saturday from 2-6pm at 146 Lakeshore Road West and Sunday from 12-4pm at 334 Lakeshore Road West. Remember your Valentine’s Day in Oakville this year with this sweet mementoe, no reservations required.

🎨 Oakville Artists Wanted For Culture Days

Oakville artists and community groups are being invited to take part in Culture Days, a coast-to-coast celebration that turns everyday spaces into hubs for free workshops, performances, exhibits, and hands-on cultural experiences each fall.

The invitation follows another banner year, with Oakville ranked Canada’s top participating Culture Days community in 2025 for the fourth year in a row. Hundreds of events filled venues across town, from community centres to libraries, setting a high bar as the festival returns Sept. 18 to Oct. 4.

🥧 Butter Tarts Steal the Show

The smell of butter, sugar, and pastry filled Oakville Place this past Saturday as the annual Butter Tart Market drew hundreds of visitors into the bustling lower atrium. Hosted by Gotta Luv Butter Tarts, the event brought together vendors from across Canada, many returning with extra stock after selling out early last year.

Local favourites like Capital B Cafe mixed classic flavours with creative twists, and shoppers were happy to sample both. It’s no surprise this crowd-pleaser landed on our February event guide’s top picks, Oakville clearly knows how to show up for a butter tart.

💙 Local Charity Spotlight: Safetynet Services

One local organization we’re proud to spotlight is Safetynet Services, founded in 2006 and based right here in Oakville. Safetynet supports financially disadvantaged families across Halton, Hamilton, Peel, and nearby areas by offering free, wrap-around services, from donating used clothing and household essentials, to furniture and toiletries.

In 2025 alone, Safetynet supported 1,800 new families, distributed over 360,000 essential items, matched 64 students with tutors, and diverted over 270,000 tons from landfill. You can support them through financial donations, item donations, and simple community word of mouth. Following Safetynet on social media, subscribing to their newsletter, or sharing their work are easy ways to help ensure this growing need in our community continues to be met.
