Eight Halton Catholic schools, including three in Oakville, are set for major improvements after the school board approved $7.1 million in 2026 renewal projects. The upgrades span HVAC systems, LED lighting, roofing replacements, and specialized equipment across schools in Burlington, Milton, Halton Hills, and Oakville.

In Oakville, St. Dominic and St. Michael elementary schools will each receive full roof replacements, while St. Vincent will get new classroom heat and circulation pumps. These updates aim to boost energy efficiency, safety, and overall comfort for students and staff.

Downtown Oakville got a festive boost on Nov. 1 as families brought their Halloween pumpkins to the Oakville Museum’s fourth annual Pumpkin Parade. Held at the historic Erchless Estate, the event featured a glowing trail of jack-o-lanterns, from classic spooky faces to a standout Blue Jays-themed creation, timed perfectly with Game 7 of the World Series.

The free event, hosted in partnership with the Oakville Historical Society and Oakville Public Library, included Halloween crafts, spooky storytime, and singalongs for all ages. Donated pumpkins will even go on to feed local farm animals, a fitting end for some truly creative carvings.

The Oakville & Milton Humane Society is among ten shelters in Canada receiving a 2025 program development grant from the Pedigree Foundation. The grant is part of $110,000 CAD awarded nationwide to support fostering, transport, behaviour training, and other adoption-boosting programs during National Adopt a Shelter Dog Month.

The funding comes as shelters across Canada face longer stays for animals and slower adoption rates. With more than 39,000 pets in shelters, this support aims to keep pets with their families and help more dogs find permanent homes.
