Bronte Village is launching its first-ever Fallin’ for Fun Festival this Saturday, Sept. 27, from 10am-5pm at Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park. Organized by the Bronte BIA, the free, all-ages event promises a full day of live music, food trucks, antique shopping, art zones, and family-friendly activities set against Oakville’s lakeside backdrop.

Festivalgoers can enjoy performances from The CCAH Steelband, Lucy Ellis, Gigi Noche & Band, and The Friday Project. Other highlights include a 40-vendor antique market, a pie-eating contest with a $250 prize, face painting, line dancing, and a percussion workshop. With support from local sponsors and plenty of community spirit, it’s shaping up to be a perfect sendoff to summer.

Ontario is investing $1.5 million to train 100 experienced construction workers as mentors who will guide the next generation in modern home building techniques. Funded through the Skills Development Fund, the initiative supports the province’s broader push to build more housing and fill skilled trades roles as part of a $200 billion infrastructure plan.

Led by the Ontario Home Builders’ Association, the Futures Faster program focuses on areas like building code updates, mass timber construction, and radon mitigation. Mentors will train recent grads and displaced workers, helping them earn up to two specialized credentials. It’s a timely move as Ontario aims to build faster, smarter, and with a stronger workforce.

Over 9,000 visitors rolled into Bronte Creek Provincial Park on Sept. 21 for the 40th annual British Car Day, the largest one-day British car show in North America. The event featured nearly 900 cars, from classic Morgans to rare Triumphs, and celebrated more than just vintage wheels. It also honoured the late Dave Sims, longtime organizer and the heart of the show.

This year introduced the new Dave Sims Memorial Fan Favourite Award, won by Chris Steer’s 1976 Triumph TR7. Many, like David and Lynne Hornby, praised the show for its strong sense of community, not just its cars. Whether a seasoned collector or a first-time visitor, attendees came for the chrome but stayed for the camaraderie.
