⚓️ 🔵 A Note From Us 🔵⚓️

"I love the newsletter, how can I help support it?"

This is a message that we receive from our lovely readers (like yourself) all the time.

As you may know by now, the goal of this newsletter when I created it was to bring together absolutely everything that Oakville has to offer, so that you are always in the know about every event, new business, road closure, and everything in between that happens in the community.

I want to ensure that every time you open this email in your inbox, I am bringing as much value possible to you within a quick 5 minute read - and that it's always 100% free.

The way we can do this, is by allowing awesome local businesses to promote themselves. These businesses are chosen carefully and intentionally - and no I am not just saying that. We ensure that every time you see a business on the Oakville Digest, it's one that we would use ourselves and recommend to family and friends.

So if you love the newsletter, and you want to show us your support, remember that supporting our sponsors means supporting us.

And if you or someone you know would be a good fit to work with us, shoot me an email here! 😎

Have a great Friday,
Nick

Now on to the news…

🌿 Big Improvements Coming to Town

Source: oakvillenews.org

Oakville Council has approved detailed streetscape studies for Bronte Village and Kerr Village, setting the stage for major upgrades to sidewalks, crossings, cycling paths, and public spaces. The goal is to make both areas more walkable, welcoming, and vibrant, with plans shaped by months of community input.

In Bronte, expect wider sidewalks, more trees, and safer crossings by removing slip lanes and a centre lane on Lakeshore Road West. Kerr will extend the charm of Downtown Oakville with new street furniture, better bike lanes, and easier corner crossings. Final designs will guide future development, with funding decisions coming in the 2026 budget.

🏗️ Oakville Gets $13M for Housing

Oakville has been awarded $13.2 million from Ontario’s Building Faster Fund after beating its 2024 housing target. The town started construction on 3,679 new homes this year, reaching 134% of its goal. The funding was announced at Town Hall on Sept. 24 and will help pay for roads, utilities, and other infrastructure that support new housing.

Oakville aims to build 33,000 new homes by 2031, but it’s still behind pace. Town staff have launched new tools like an online permit system and created a Housing Secretariat to keep things moving. While 2025 may be tougher due to the economy, local leaders say they’re focused on keeping housing growth steady.

🎬 Oakville’s Leandro Vigueras Shines at TIFF

Leandro Vigueras (left)

Local actor Leandro Vigueras turned heads recently as he walked the red carpet at TIFF for the premiere of Adulthood, a moody crime drama starring Josh Gad and Kaya Scodelario. The film follows siblings Megan and Noah, who uncover a long-buried body in their parents’ basement, sparking a dark spiral of secrets and violence. It premiered at TIFF on September 11, then hit Apple TV and Prime Video in Canada this Tuesday.

Vigueras has been gaining momentum, recently appearing in the Amazon Prime original We Were Liars, and now adding Adulthood to his growing resume. This young actor is on his way to becoming A-list, and he is putting Oakville on the map while doing it!
