🌧️ Halton Boosts Help to Prevent Basement Flooding

Source: oakvillenews.org

Halton Region will now pay up to 100% of the cost for key home upgrades that help stop basement flooding. This includes up to $6,500 for sump pump systems, $900 for downspout disconnections, and partial coverage for other fixes like backwater valves and pipe repairs. The changes follow last year’s major storms, which hit older homes the hardest. Local leaders say this will help more homeowners take action, though some think tougher rules may still be needed.

🎥 OFFA Fall Series Spotlights Local Talent

The Oakville Festivals of Film and Art (OFFA) has unveiled its fall 2025 lineup, featuring The Choral, Little Lorraine, and Silver Screamers. All screenings will be held Wednesday nights at Film.Ca Cinemas in Kerr Village, with most events followed by Q&As with filmmakers or cast.

Kicking off Oct. 22, Little Lorraine brings a Canadian crime drama to the screen with Stephen Amell and Sean Astin. November’s Silver Screamers follows seniors making their own horror film, and December’s The Choral stars Ralph Fiennes in a moving WWI-era music drama. Early bird passes are on sale until Oct. 10.
