🍔 Holy Cow: Steak Sandwiches & Smash Burgers

Source: insidehalton.com
Holy Cow Steak Sandwiches is drawing crowds with its fresh, locally sourced steak sandwiches and smash burgers at 358 Speers Rd., sharing space with its sister spot, Holy Puff dessert bar. Owner Wafa Momani launched the lunch-focused eatery after noticing a gap in offerings for Oakville’s midday crowd, especially those craving quality steak sandwiches made from scratch.
What began as a limited lunch menu has quickly expanded to full-time service due to high demand. With fresh meat delivered almost daily and nothing ever frozen, Holy Cow aims to elevate both quick lunches and corporate catering. The combo of savoury sandwiches and sweet desserts makes it a true one-stop for food lovers.
🔶 Oakville Fire Wins Two Inclusion Awards
The Oakville Fire Department has received two major provincial awards for its efforts to make fire education more accessible and inclusive. The Ontario Association of Fire Educators named OFD’s Autism Acceptance Month Fire Safety Program as Program of the Year for 2025. Developed with Monarch House, the program offers fire safety training in a sensory-friendly environment tailored to neurodivergent individuals and their families.
The department also earned Fire Service Women Ontario’s Diversity and Inclusion Award for its Blaze Fire Academy, a leadership program for youth that promotes careers in fire services. With camps for young women and plans to expand access for Indigenous youth and newcomers, the program reflects OFD’s broader commitment to equity across Halton.

🎨 Oakville Art Society Turns 60
The Oakville Art Society marked its 60th anniversary with a new exhibit called “Connections” at the Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre. With help from the Oakville Museum, local artists paired their work with historical garments to show how art and history connect. MP Sima Acan and Mayor Rob Burton were among the guests, both praising the Society’s role in supporting local culture and creativity.
During the celebration, OAS President Barbara Chapman shared exciting news: a new Ontario Trillium Foundation grant will help fix up their building on Bronte Road. The “Connections” exhibit runs until November 14, giving visitors a chance to enjoy these special works a little longer.
