🏊‍♂️ Iroquois Ridge Pool Reopening

After a 10-month closure for renovations, the Iroquois Ridge Community Centre pool will reopen on Saturday, Nov. 1. The upgrades include new heat pumps, full tile replacement, and a fully accessible customer service desk, aimed at improving safety, comfort, and accessibility across the facility.

Originally set to reopen in the summer, the project was delayed due to unexpected underground issues. A condensed fall aquatics program will launch alongside the reopening, with registration opening Tuesday, Oct. 7 at 9 a.m. for Oakville residents.

🎉 Oakville Approves New Events Plan

Oakville has approved a new Special Events Plan focused on inclusivity, streamlined support, and long-term investment. Shaped by over 1,450 contributions, it prioritizes community-led programming and clearer, more efficient processes.

Highlights include a potential grant program, upgraded event infrastructure, and simplified funding under a single model. With strong public backing, the plan aims to make celebrations more accessible and meaningful across the town.

💛 Help Ian Anderson House Win $5,000

🧡 Hundreds Join Walk in The Park

Source: insidehaltono.com

Hundreds gathered at Bronte Creek Provincial Park on Sept. 30 for the Walk to Remember the Children, organized by Grandmother’s Voice and ROCK, to mark the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. The event honoured Indigenous children lost to Canada’s residential school system, with songs, reflection, and shared stories about the generational impact of these institutions.

Speakers, including Mohawk filmmaker Layla Staats, shared personal experiences and emphasized that reconciliation means action today. “Every child matters,” said Staats, urging the crowd to remember those still suffering and to work toward lasting change.

🎗️ Rotary Donates $10K to Cancer Support

As part of its 100th anniversary celebrations, the Rotary Club of Oakville Trafalgar has donated $10,000 to the Wellspring Cancer Support Foundation. The gift will fund 32 Cancer Exercise sessions, helping patients manage pain, regain mobility, and return to daily life with greater strength and confidence.

Wellspring is the third local organization to receive support from Rotary’s $100,000 centennial pledge. The donation was presented Sept. 19 outside the Wellspring office in Oakville.
