🔨 New Retirement Community Underway
Construction is now underway on a six-storey, 221-suite retirement residence at 1105 McCraney Street East, across from White Oaks Secondary. The 200,000-square-foot building is set to open in 2028 and is the first GTA project by Seasons Retirement Communities, in partnership with Fengate, LiUNA, and The Hi-Rise Group.
Suites will average 652 square feet, with features supporting cognitive care. The residence will include dining, entertainment, and connections to local groups like the YMCA.
🏥 Over 100 New Hospital Beds Coming
Oakville and Milton hospitals are set to receive up to 123 new acute care beds within two years, the province announced on Nov. 7. The expansion includes finishing unused space at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital and adding capacity at Milton District Hospital to meet rising demand.
With Halton’s senior population expected to double in 20 years, the added beds aim to ease pressure on care. Hospital leaders say the move will improve patient flow and reduce wait times.

🍲 Empty Bowls Raises $20K for Families

Source: oakvillenews.org
Home Suite Hope’s 17th annual “Empty Bowls” fundraiser at Appleby College brought in over $20,000 to support single-parent families in Oakville. Guests sampled soups from local restaurants and took home hand-painted ceramic bowls, with proceeds going toward helping families transition from homelessness to stability.
The event featured heartfelt stories like Andrea’s, who credited the group for helping her rebuild her life. Local leaders, including MP Sima Acan and MPP Stephen Crawford, showed their support, with Crawford noting a $21,000 Trillium Foundation grant for tech upgrades.
💝 Oakville Couple Donates $1M to Wellspring
Long-time Oakville residents Eve and Peter Willis have donated $1 million to Wellspring Cancer Support Foundation, marking a milestone moment as the Birmingham Gilgan House celebrates its 25th anniversary. The gift will boost volunteer training and recognition at the Sixth Line centre, which supports cancer patients and their families with emotional, rehabilitative, and practical care.
The couple, involved with Wellspring for over two decades, called the gift a reflection of their shared vision to help people live better with cancer. A commemorative plaque now honours their impact at the centre’s reception.
