🔨 221 Homes Proposed for Burnhamthorpe Site

Source: insidehalton.com

A new residential development could be coming to 210 Burnhamthorpe Rd. E., just east of Sixth Line. Argo Oakville Woods Corporation has submitted a plan to build 221 homes on the 7.26-hectare vacant site, including a mix of townhouses, single detached homes, and a village square. A 1.08-hectare woodlot would be preserved at the south end, with a public trail in the works.

The plan features 86 back-to-back townhomes, 21 rear-lane units, 102 street townhouses, and 12 single homes. The developer says the project supports Oakville’s housing targets and offers a variety of “missing middle” options for families at different life stages. The site sits beside the Eternity Way neighbourhood and future developments, with natural green space buffering the southern edge.

🌯 Chipotle Opens New Oakville Location

Chipotle Mexican Grill is bringing more of its popular burritos and bowls to Halton, with a new Oakville location opening Oct. 29 at 203 North Service Rd. W. This follows the Oct. 23 opening of a second Burlington spot at 2500 Appleby Line. Both are part of the chain’s continued expansion across Canada.

Each new restaurant is expected to create about 30 jobs, with benefits like tuition reimbursement and referral bonuses. The first 50 customers at each opening will receive a free Chipotle speaker, a spicy little incentive to line up early.

📚 BookTalk, Live! Lights Up Local Readers

Source: oakvillenews.org

Oakville’s book lovers gathered at the Oakville Centre on Oct. 22 for BookTalk, Live!, a lively new event hosted by Oakville Public Library and the Friends of OPL. Publishers from HarperCollins, Hornblower, Martin and Associates, and Ampersand shared their top fall reads and hidden gems, from thrillers to memoirs and everything in between.

The night featured books by Canadian, Indigenous, and local authors, including Oakville’s own Hannah Mary McKinnon and Susan Aglukark. Proceeds from the event and book sale will help fund new programs for older adults at the library. A cozy, inspiring night for the town’s reading crowd.

🏒 Sarah Fillier Set for Big Second Season

Oakville’s Sarah Fillier is heading into her second PWHL season with momentum after a standout rookie year with the New York Sirens, where she tallied 29 points in 30 games and won Rookie of the Year. With roster changes in New York, she’s ready to take on a bigger role and mentor new teammates.

An Olympic year adds to the stakes, with Fillier expected to suit up for Team Canada. Off the ice, she’s now a Gatorade athlete, joining names like Poulin and Crosby in the brand’s lineup.
