🔑 On The Market
Check out this listing from Dan Cooper Group at 44 Iverhuron:
This five-bedroom River Oaks home offers rare space with approx. 2,800 sq ft above grade plus a finished basement. Highlights include a renovated granite kitchen, spacious family room with wood-burning fireplace, main-floor laundry, and five true bedrooms upstairs, led by an oversized primary suite with spa-style ensuite.
The finished lower level adds rec space and a gas fireplace, while the private backyard steals the show with a heated saltwater pool, natural stone patios, and mature landscaping. A rare combination in River Oaks, perfect for growing families who want space inside and resort-style living outside.

⛸️ From Oakville Ice to Olympic Gold

Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara won pairs gold for Japan in Milan, but they’ve been training in Oakville for years. Since 2019, the duo has worked out of Skate Oakville at Sixteen Mile Sports Complex with coaches Bruno Marcotte and Meagan Duhamel. After finishing fifth in the short program, they rebounded with a world-record free skate to secure Japan’s first Olympic title in pairs skating.
Skate Oakville, now nearly 90 years old, is Canada’s largest skating club with more than 2,500 members. Miura and Kihara add their names to a long list of elite athletes who’ve trained here, giving the local club another milestone to celebrate.
🎆 Canada Day at Coronation Park
Oakville’s Canada Day celebration could have a new home this summer. Town staff are recommending the event move from Bronte to Coronation Park after recent years saw large groups of youth setting off fireworks in unsafe ways, including into crowds. Councillors will debate the proposal on Feb. 23. The report says Coronation Park would allow for fencing, better crowd control, and fireworks launched safely from a barge offshore.
The event has been held in Bronte since 1964 and draws up to 30,000 people. While many support keeping the tradition, safety concerns have grown. Some residents near Coronation Park say they weren’t consulted and worry the issues could simply shift locations. Council will decide next week.
🏠 Town Backs Heritage Home Repairs
Oakville is putting money toward preserving some of its oldest buildings. The town’s Heritage Grant Program will cover up to 50 per cent of approved conservation work, to a maximum of $15,000 per project. In total, $180,000 is available this year to support properties designated under the Ontario Heritage Act or protected through heritage agreements.
The funding is aimed at restoring original features and maintaining the character that makes these homes part of Oakville’s story. Applications are due March 16, with town staff and the Heritage Oakville Advisory Committee reviewing submissions before council gives final approval.

🚑 Ambulance Filled With Food Donations
Valentine’s Day looked a little different outside Longo’s in southeast Oakville. Volunteers with St. John Ambulance’s Medical First Response Unit parked an ambulance out front and asked shoppers to help fill it with food for local families. By the end of the day, eight grocery carts worth of donations were headed to Oakville Fareshare Food Bank.
The “Bandages & Bellies” drive focused on canned goods, dry items and baby supplies, with pre-packed bags available for purchase in-store. Organizers say the donations will support more than 900 families this winter. Another drive is already planned for March 14 at Longo’s Burloak.
🌱 Students Raise Money to Plant Trees
Two Oakville high school students are showing how small efforts can add up. Tiger Sun and Andy Luo started an initiative called 4EVERGREEN, putting their own earnings toward local tree planting. So far, they’ve raised $700 and donated it to the Oakville Green Conservation Association, funding 30 new trees set to be planted this spring.
With development continuing across the GTA, tree cover has taken a hit in many communities. Tiger and Andy hope to reach $1,000 next, and they’re also planning winter support efforts like collecting warm clothing and organizing driveway shovelling. Their goal is to keep Oakville greener and look out for neighbours along the way.
