🧶 Two Seniors Holiday Bazaars Ahead
Oakville’s Seniors Services is hosting two festive bazaars this month, offering crafts, baked goods, and handmade gifts. The first, Christmas at Colborne, takes place Sunday, Nov. 16 from noon to 3pm at the Sir John Colborne Recreation Centre. Shoppers can browse crafts, jewelry, and knitting while enjoying homemade scones and hot drinks.
The second, Trafalgar Park Christmas Bazaar, runs Saturday, Nov. 29 from 9am to 12:30pm at Trafalgar Park Community Centre. Highlights include a treasure room, silent auction, and open bistro for treats and refreshments.
🎅 Santa Claus Parade Road Closures
Several downtown Oakville roads will be closed this Saturday, Nov. 15, from 6am to noon for the annual Santa Claus Parade. Affected streets include parts of Lakeshore, Kerr, Stewart, Felan, and Robinson, with no local access allowed during the closures.
Detours will be in place along Chartwell, Cornwall, Speers, Dorval, and Fourth Line. Drivers should expect delays near the parade route.

🎖️ Oakville Gathers for Remembrance Day
Oakville held its annual Remembrance Day ceremony this morning at George's Square, drawing thousands of residents to honour Canada’s veterans and fallen soldiers. Units from the Armed Forces, Air Cadets, Halton Police, and Oakville Fire marched from the Oakville Trafalgar Community Centre to the square, where wreaths were laid in tribute.
Rob Burton, Anita Anand, and other dignitaries were in attendance. Minister Anand called on youth to wear poppies “not as a symbol of war, but of gratitude,” reminding everyone of the enduring presence behind each one—stories of service, sacrifice, and peace.
🦁 Lions Club Marks 90 Years
The Lions Club of Oakville celebrated its 90th anniversary on Sunday, Nov. 9, with a gala at the Oakville Conference Centre, drawing a large crowd despite the season’s first snowfall. The evening featured tributes from Mayor Rob Burton, MP Sima Acan, and MPPs Stephen Crawford and Effie Triantafilopoulos, who presented official certificates recognizing the club’s long-standing service.
Founded in 1935, the Oakville branch has been a pillar of local volunteerism, known for initiatives like Ribfest and the creation of the Water Air Rescue Force in 1954. As Mayor Burton put it, “We offer eternal thanks for everything you’ve done to raise Oakville up.”
