🏕️ More Campsites Coming to Ontario Parks
Ontario is spending $60 million to add 300 new campsites and upgrade 800 more with electricity. It’s the biggest park expansion in 50 years. Work starts at popular parks like Driftwood, Bon Echo, MacGregor Point and Killarney, with more to follow. Sandbanks, which gets around 750,000 visitors a year, will get 73 upgraded sites by summer 2026. The goal is to make camping easier, more comfortable and available to more people.
🚑 Halton Paramedics Get $25M Boost
Ontario is putting nearly $25 million into Halton’s paramedic services to improve emergency response times. This includes more funding for ambulances and support to help paramedics spend less time waiting in hospitals so they can get back on the road faster.
Over $1.4 million will go toward hiring nurses to help offload patients at emergency rooms. The province says this move has already cut wait times by 65% since 2022.
🎭 Help Shape Oakville’s Arts Centre
The Town is exploring updates to the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts, a longtime downtown venue for live music, theatre, and cultural events. Residents, artists, and businesses are invited to complete a short online survey by October 3 to share ideas on how the Centre can better serve the community as part of a broader downtown cultural revitalization.

🌟 Oakville Restaurants Win Michelin Honours

hexagonrestaurant.com
Oakville’s dining scene is earning serious international praise, with two local favourites recognized in the 2025 Michelin Guide. Hexagon has retained its Michelin star for the second year in a row, still holding the title as Halton’s only starred restaurant. Led by chef Rafael Covarrubias, the downtown spot is known for its elegant tasting menus and artful presentation.
Just steps away, Seven Enoteca has joined the Michelin Guide’s Bib Gourmand list, highlighting great food at reasonable prices. The cozy Towne Square trattoria has been a neighbourhood favourite since 2010, praised for its wood-fired pizzas, polished Italian dishes, and smart wine list.
🧁 Mary’s Muffins Marked 5 Sweet Years
Mary’s Muffins on Kerr Street celebrated its 5th anniversary with a cheerful tribute to the community: a “Muffin Hug Window” where customers snapped photos with signs like “Stud Muffin” and “Muffin Mom.” The colourful display ran through September and was designed to spark smiles and Instagram posts.
Founder Mary Legakis Engel called the milestone a thank-you to Oakville, where the bakery grew from a COVID-era startup into a beloved local spot. Known for seasonal flavours and community support, Mary’s Muffins baked its way into the heart of town.
