🔧 Westminster Drive Closed for Repairs
Westminster Drive, a quiet residential street in south Oakville, is now closed to through traffic until August 28. The closure affects the stretch between Lakeshore Road West and Hixon Street to allow for storm sewer installation and water main relocation, aimed at resolving local drainage issues.
During construction, only local traffic will be permitted, with access from Lakeshore restricted at times. Detours are set up along Lakeshore, Woodhaven Park Drive, and Hixon Street.
🌧️ Halton May Boost Flood Rebates
Halton Region wants to make its flood prevention program more appealing by covering more of the costs for homeowners. The goal is to get more people to install upgrades like backwater valves and disconnect old pipes that send rainwater into the sewer system, which can cause basement flooding.
So far, very few homeowners have used the existing rebates. The region hopes bigger incentives will fix that.

🏈 Oakville Titans Sweep Youth Football Titles

Source: Oakville News
The Oakville Titans had a weekend to remember, capturing three league championships in dominant fashion. From July 25-27, the U12, U14, and U16 squads each earned hard-fought victories, showcasing heart, hustle, and serious talent. The U12 team powered past Quinte for back-to-back titles, the U14s outlasted Durham in a high-scoring thriller, and the U16s shut down Niagara in a gritty rematch to claim their crown.
Bringing home three trophies in one weekend cements the Titans’ place as a powerhouse in Ontario youth football. It's a huge moment for the players, coaches, and families who’ve built something special right here in Oakville.
