🎄 A Holiday Guide for Oakville
Visit Oakville has released a festive roundup of the season’s top events, highlighting everything from tree lightings and markets to concerts and family fun. Things kick off November 14 with Light Up the Night in Downtown Oakville, where the tree lighting and Sugar Plums in Towne Square mark the start of the season. The Santa Claus Parade rolls through the next morning, and Coronation Park’s Holiday Lights by the Lake begins December 1, glowing through February with over 130,000 lights.
Bronte and Kerr Village are hosting cozy tree lightings and markets, perfect for soaking up small-town holiday vibes. Over at the Oakville Museum, you can tour the Erchless Estate decked out for an 1800s Christmas or meet Santa in his sitting room. The Oakville Centre’s got you covered on entertainment too, with everything from Jann Arden’s Christmas Tour to a holiday panto. The best part? These are just a few of the many festive happenings popping up all over town this season.
💼 Free Will Planning Session in Oakville
The Ontario Bar Association’s Make A Will Month is back this November, offering free public sessions on wills and estate planning across the province. Oakville residents can attend a local session at the Oakville Public Library on November 24, with another nearby in Milton on November 11. The campaign aims to demystify the process and help people avoid common pitfalls when preparing legal documents.
With fewer than half of Canadians holding valid wills, the sessions address rising concerns about unprepared estates, digital assets, and complex family dynamics. Lawyers will explain why tailored advice matters, especially as life situations and laws grow more intricate. A simple, updated will can save families from confusion and conflict later.
🌊 Bronte Waterfront Strategy Moves Ahead
The Town of Oakville is entering Phase 2 of its Bronte Waterfront Strategy, inviting residents to weigh in on design concepts for the area’s future. Feedback from this phase will help shape long-term planning decisions based on ideas shared during the summer’s consultations.
Two in-person workshops will be held on November 18 at Walton Memorial Church, with sessions at 3-5pm and 6:30-8:30pm. An online survey will follow later this month.

🍴 Anna Olson Hosts Sold-Out Oakville Pop-Up

Source: oakvillenews.org
Celebrity chef Anna Olson brought her signature charm and cookbook dishes to Beertown Oakville last night, hosting a sold-out pop-up dinner for over 200 guests. The one-night event, held to promote her new book Anna Cooks, featured a five-course menu, cocktail pairings, and plenty of face time with the Food Network star.
From fig and olive dips to peach BBQ ribs and a rich Autumn Apple Slab Pie, Olson’s dishes proved a perfect match for Beertown’s scratch-cooking vibe. While most items were one-night only, the pie stays on the menu until Nov. 16, a sweet encore for those who missed the main event.
💰 Oakville Donated $115M to Charity in 2023
Oakville residents gave over $115 million to registered charities last year, according to the Oakville Community Foundation’s new Generosity Report. While still a strong show of support, the total marks a 4.9% drop from 2022 and 8% from 2021, despite national giving reaching record highs in 2023.
The share of local tax filers donating has also declined, from 31% in 2011 to just 21.2% in 2023. With median household incomes on the rise, the Foundation is digging deeper into what’s driving the shift and how to keep Oakville’s culture of giving strong.
