🌳 Oakville to Plant 60,000 Trees

Oakville has announced a big plan to plant nearly 60,000 trees and shrubs in 2025. The goal is to grow the town’s tree canopy from 30% today to 40% by 2057, making neighbourhoods greener, cooler, and healthier. Mayor Rob Burton said trees help clean the air, provide shade, and make Oakville more welcoming.

This year alone, more than 14,000 trees and 2,000 shrubs are already in the ground, with another 38,000 trees and 4,400 shrubs coming this fall. The town also checks regularly for pests and diseases to keep the urban forest strong. Oakville’s future is looking leafier every year.button

🍁 Bronte Legion Hosting Open House

The Bronte Legion Branch 486 is opening its doors on Saturday, Sept. 13, with a community open house at 79 Jones St. The free event runs 1-5pm and offers a chance to learn about veterans’ services, hall rentals, the Poppy Campaign, and more. Light food, drinks, and live entertainment will be provided throughout the afternoon.

Guests can also take advantage of exclusive discounts on memberships and rentals available that day. To top it off, attendees will have the chance to win a 28-inch Blackstone grill in a special draw. Sounds like a great way to spend a Saturday in Bronte.

🛝 Ridgeview Park Revamp Seeks Input

Oakville is planning a full refresh of Ridgeview Park at 156 Sewell Dr., including a brand-new playground, a splash pad, upgraded lighting, improved pathways, and more shade and seating. Residents are being asked to choose between two playground and two splash pad designs as part of the project. Construction is set to begin in late fall and wrap up by early summer 2026, depending on the weather.

🎡 Record Crowd at Oak Park Fair

Source: Oakville News

More than 4,000 residents packed the Oak Park Neighbourhood Centre on Saturday, Sept. 6, for the 28th annual Oak Park Fall Fair. Hosted by Ward 5 Councillor Jeff Knoll, the fair hit record numbers in both attendance and fundraising, with Knoll calling it one of the event’s best years yet.

The fair supports the Oak Park Neighbourhood Centre, which depends on donations to run its programs. Families enjoyed food, games, and entertainment while helping raise funds for a vital community hub. A clear win for both fun and fundraising.
