Good morning Oakville. Happy Monday!
Before getting into it, we have an idea and want to run it by you.
What if we hosted small, curated dinners around town? 🍽️
A type of Oakville Digest Dinner Club. This would be a way to meet new people and explore new restaurants.
It would be for small groups of around 6 people per table. Each person would fill out a survey about the type of restaurant they’d like and the types of people they’re interested in meeting. Then you just show up, enjoy great food, and connect with other readers from here in town. Maybe we even throw in an afterparty for you to meet the other tables and keep the night going.
The ticket fee to sign up would be around $15.00 and each person pays for their own dinner.
If you have any thoughts or questions, please reply to this email. We would love to hear from you!
Here is what to expect in today’s issue:

Let’s work together.

📚 Sixteen Mile Hub Opens This Month
One of Oakville’s largest community projects in years is ready to welcome residents. The new Sixteen Mile community centre and permanent Oakville Public Library branch will open on March 31 at 3070 Neyagawa Blvd, unveiling a modern gathering place designed for reading, recreation, and everything in between.
The 65,000 sq. ft. centre features aquatics, fitness, an indoor track and gym, alongside an 18,000 sq. ft. library with study zones and creative studios. Programs begin in April, the pool opens late spring, and outdoor courts arrive summer 2026, with a grand celebration planned for May.
🥪 A New Sandwich Spot in Town
A popular Montreal smoked meat chain is set to make its Oakville debut soon. Rock’N Deli, founded in Laval in 1992, has built its name on traditional Montreal-style smoked meat and recently expanded into the GTA. Its newest location will be right here in Oakville at 530 Speers Rd. The grand opening has been postponed for the time being, and more details will be announced soon.
Expect piled-high smoked meat on rye with mustard, a classic Reuben, and “The Smokey” on brioche, plus burgers, poutine, wings, and sides. Hours will be 11am-9pm daily, with two-for-one specials on select items for opening day. If you get there early enough, they are also giving out free churros to the first 50 people to show up.

🍫 Chocolate Festival Success
Oakville’s first Great Canadian Chocolate Affair turned the Oakville Conference Centre into a chocolate lover’s dream, drawing steady crowds eager to sample bold, local flavours. Created by former Oakville resident Patricia McDermott and organized by Prince Edward County Markets, the debut event showcased artisan makers from across Ontario, including several from Halton.
From cinnamon bun and banana fosters to rosemary focaccia and green szechuan peppercorn, vendors pushed chocolate’s limits, alongside maple syrup, wine, butter and even oysters.

🚗 Sleepless Night Raises $337K
More than $337,000 was raised overnight as residents across Halton and Hamilton slept in their vehicles for the annual Sleepless For Our Community fundraiser that took place on February 20th. Organized by United Way Halton and Hamilton, the event united families, workplaces, and local leaders in support of neighbours facing poverty and housing insecurity.
A generous local family matched funds raised above $150,000, boosting the impact. Proceeds support housing stability, food security, and employment programs across the region. Congratulations to everyone who gave up a warm bed to make a real difference.
