🔔 The Mule Taco Bar Comes to Oakville

Downtown Oakville is expanding it’s dining options with The Mule officially opening today at 191 Lakeshore Rd. E. Known for its bold tacos and tequila-forward menu, the sixth location of this popular chain promises a relaxed, shareable dining experience. Chef Matthew Kershaw, who launched the concept in Hamilton in 2015, describes it as a global appetizer bar with strong Mexican and Central American roots, but plenty of room for creativity.

Diners can expect favourites like the Nashville taco, O.G. Fish, and even a surprise hit: the Brussels sprout taco. Non-taco lovers aren't left out either, with options like Gooseberry Salmon Ceviche and Togarashi Fried Chicken. Drinks range from margaritas to wine, and the kitchen is fully gluten-free. With small plates priced around $6-7, Kershaw calls it a “fun food adventure” that doesn’t break the bank.

🚨 Which Oakville Street Had the Most Speeders?

Oakville’s year-long speed camera program is over, and Rebecca Street westbound just past Jones led the pack with 7,764 tickets, more than 1 in 5 issued across town. The initiative brought in over $4.2 million in fines, though nearly $2 million remains unpaid.

Top recorded speeds hit 137 km/h in 40 zones. With ASE cameras now shut off, overdue tickets are being sent for plate denial. Keep reading more here

On a related note…

With speed cameras now deactivated, Oakville is doubling down on other safety tools in its Neighbourhood Traffic Safety Program. In 2025, the town added speed cushions on nine streets, enhanced safety near eight schools, and introduced or planned 27 pedestrian crossovers. For 2026, plans include calming measures on six more roads, four additional school zones, and new signals at Dundas and Taunton, with public input remaining a key part of the process.

🎄 Oakville Symphony Rings in the Holidays

The Oakville Symphony’s Family Holiday Concerts return Sunday, Dec. 14 at 1:30pm and 4:30pm at the Oakville Centre. Audiences can enjoy festive favourites like Sleigh Ride, The Nutcracker, and music from Frozen, with help from the Oakville Choir for Children and Youth and the Oakville Symphony Youth Orchestra.

The program also includes a lively holiday sing-along and seasonal pop hits. Tickets start at $21, with something for every age.

💛 Shifa Gala Returns This Saturday

Shifa Gala Photo

The fourth annual Shifa Gala takes place Saturday, Nov. 29 at Oakville Legacy Banquet Hall, aiming to raise $100,000 for essential medical equipment at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. Since its founding, the event has raised $250,000, including $90,000 last year alone. Tickets are $150, with a reception at 6pm and dinner at 8pm.

Organizers expect around 400 guests, with live entertainment by Pakistani singer Amanat Ali and a chance to connect with community professionals. “Shifa” means healing in Arabic, reflecting the gala’s purpose and spirit.

🎉 Rotary Donates $10K to Food For Life

Food For Life has received a $10,000 donation from the Rotary Club of Oakville Trafalgar as part of Rotary Oakville’s 100th anniversary celebrations. The donation, presented on November 5, is the fourth in a $100,000 pledge being distributed to local charities this year. It will support Food For Life’s ongoing food rescue and distribution efforts throughout Oakville.

The funding helps deliver over $71,000 worth of nutritious food to residents facing hunger and food insecurity. Rotary members say the centennial campaign celebrates a century of service in Oakville, while continuing to support both local and global causes that make a meaningful impact.
